The year 2011 marked our seventh year in Lewis County. You may have stopped by one of our booths or seen us at one of many community festivals and partner outreach clinics we participate in during the year. Each year we had a very successful Children's Health Fair at our Chehalis Clinic.
We also have partnerships with Lewis County schools, Centralia College, and several other organizations and businesses. In addition, we have a literacy corner sponsored by Lewis County Rotary Clubs. We're continuing to grow and always looking for more opportunities to serve the residents of Lewis County.
Our History
Providence Hospital was faced with an enormous demand for charity care, especially in the emergency room. Providence and other community members started an investigation on the best way to provide funded access to care for this population.
After research, the group decided the best choice was the creation of a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) clinic. A FQHC clinic requires the following:
- Separate 501 (c)(3) not for profit corporation.
- Independent consumer majority board (51%).
- Focus of serving the low income and un-insured.
A work group and board was formed with community members to develop the project. Valley View received startup money from the Providence system and the community. We submitted a grant to the federal government for community health center funding.
